Abstract:

This study explores the willingness of early childhood professionals in undertaking leadership positions and further delves into the factors that encourage or discourage them to step up into such roles. A convenience sample of 64 teachers and a mixed-method research design were used for the study. Based on the findings obtained from an online survey and a focus group discussion, this study recommends four key areas with regards to organisational support for the development of leadership in early childhood professionals. These key areas are communication, mentoring, external courses, and remuneration.
