Abstract:
Recent research suggests that growing academic pressures have led to an extended focus on the academic curriculum during early childhood education, subsequently reducing playtime for children. This has prompted inquiries into the significance and role of play. The present study explores the perspectives of early childhood teachers in Singapore regarding the value of outdoor play and their instructional approaches in this context. The findings reveal that while most teachers enjoy conducting outdoor activities with their students, many are concerned about the lack of physical and human resources. Based on these findings, the authors discuss several implications and recommendations.
