Abstract:
Research in early childhood emphasises the importance of the first three years of life for a child’s development. Consequently, the curriculum for young children in early childhood education must not be left to chance. This study examines the outcomes of a relationships-based curriculum, a curriculum that prioritises the bond between child and educator. The curriculum was implemented in 20 childcare centres in Singapore and the findings were collected over a span of 3 years. Results indicate that the curriculum improved children’s well-being by fostering positive interactions and secure relationships with their educators. These findings underscore the benefits of a relationship-based curriculum and highlight the need for its further development and adoption in early childhood contexts.
