Executive Principal, My First Skool
In 2014 and 2017, I was given the opportunity to broaden my perspective in the early childhood field during my overseas learning journeys to Hungary and Hong Kong. These overseas learning journeys allowed me to learn about their education systems and how they expose culture and art to children as young as infants. In addition, they have also helped me to learn new techniques and strategies in the implementation of bilingualism in a pre-school setting.
I believe that including multi- cultural activities across the curriculum can help improve socialisation behaviours among children. It also fosters self - regard in one’s own culture and positive attitude towards the culture of others.Above all, it fosters bilingualism, which I believe is important as it preserves the children’s sense of pride in their language, allowing them to move freely in an English - language dominant society while retaining an important link to their cultural and linguistic background.
