Celebrate National Day with Our New Children’s Audiobook, and more Learning Resources for Families

“Learn with NFC” is NTUC First Campus’s initiative to make children’s audiobooks and other learning resources accessible to families. We’re excited to share our latest children’s animated audiobook in celebration of National Day!

Over the years, NTUC First Campus has been creating original books and songs to make learning Mandarin fun for little ones in class. Specially designed for early readers, these resources reflect everyday life in Singapore and local celebrations. They not only encourage a love for the language but also impart values.

“Learn with NFC” now makes these classroom resources accessible for families, empowering them to read, sing, and learn together.

Explore the latest National Day Audiobook

The newest addition to the “Learn with NFC” series is an animated children’s audiobook celebrating Singapore’s National Day. This beautifully illustrated book, transformed into an engaging animated format, brings the festive spirit of National Day directly to screens. It follows a young child learning about National Day and experiencing the joy of the celebrations through relatable illustrations.

Narrated by NTUC First Campus’s educator, this read-aloud audiobook makes learning about Singapore’s National Day both educational and entertaining. By converting these storybooks into various formats, NFC aims to reach a broader audience and provide a dynamic way for parents to engage with their children at home.

Families play a crucial role in encouraging children to love the Chinese language from a young age

In this Chinese picture book for preschoolers, a young child learns about Singapore’s National Day through conversations with his father, teacher, and classmates.

The story begins with the father hanging up the national flag and explaining that it’s to celebrate Singapore’s birthday on 9th August, marking its independence since 1965.

At school, the vivid illustrations show the teacher teaching children how to draw the Singapore flag, recognising its red and white colours, crescent moon, and five stars.

On National Day, the family dresses in red and white and attends the celebrations at the Padang.

They enjoy various events such as the National Day Parade (NDP) including performances from the Red Lions, and the state flag fly-past segment during the National Anthem.

As night falls, the sky lights up with the beautiful National Day fireworks display, filling the child with love for Singapore. Reminiscing about the celebration, the child happily shares with his family that his favourite part of the National Day Parade was the parachute display. The story ends with a heartfelt wish: “Happy Birthday, Singapore!”

What’s next for the ‘Learn with NFC’ series?

The “Learn with NFC” series is an ongoing initiative. With a variety of childrens audiobooks and songs already available on YouTube and Spotify, NFC plans to add even more exciting content in the coming months.

The series will explore various themes, including activities in children’s daily lives both at school and at home, to get children interested in learning the language and help them learn new routines and vocabulary.

Through these online resources, NFC aims to bridge the gap in accessible educational content, starting with Chinese books and other Chinese Language resources, making language learning fun and engaging for preschoolers. To compose the songs, the team has worked closely with various songwriters and composers to fine-tune the lyrics and melodies, ensuring they are simple, catchy, and enjoyable for children to learn.

NTUC First Campus offers a variety of learning formats to cater to diverse children’s preferences, age groups and reading levels, from animated song videos to engaging teacher-narrated audiobooks. Available on YouTube, Facebook, and Spotify, these resources are designed to accommodate different learning styles and interests.
